The pilgrimage church is named after the first words of the biblical greeting "Ave Maria" and was built between 1716 and 1718. It therefore falls into the late baroque era. It stands very nicely on a hill that can be seen from Deggingen and the wider area. Very beautiful old trees such as linden trees surround the church. However, it only shows its full beauty inside. Rich stucco ornamentation and artistic paintings glorify the mystery of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who was graced with divine motherhood. The showpiece of the Ave Maria pilgrimage church is its high altar. This masterpiece was built with painstaking work by the Deggingen sculptors and plasterers Ulrich Schweizer (born 1674) and his son Johann Jakob Schweizer (born 1700). If you walk down the street from Deggingen to Ave Maria, you can walk along the Way of the Cross.
