The wayside cross with a wayside shrine of St. Susanne was extensively renovated 2 years ago and solemnly consecrated on August 9, 2019. According to legend, Susanna was a niece of Pope Gaius (283–96) and was cruelly tortured in her own home in Rome around 304 and finally beheaded because of her faith and her refusal to marry the adopted son of Emperor Diocletian (284–305) . There is evidence that she was venerated as a saint as early as 400.

In 2019 the cross was extensively renovated. The picture stock had previously been overgrown and sprayed with paint. The figure of St. Susanna and the shrine's grating and stone cross had been stolen. The NRW state government had created unbureaucratic support for such projects with the home check for 2000 euros. The DVI had applied directly and was lucky enough to be one of two places in the district that benefited from this good idea. (Information board next to the wayside cross)
