Hiking
This 61-mile (98 km) river flows down from Wiltshire to the English Channel at Christchurch. It has many pretty sections but the stretch just above Iford is particularly pretty and easy to reach from Christchurch and Bournemouth.
The River Stour is the subject of the Thomas Hardy poem 'Overlooking the River Stour' and walking along this curve of the river shows you just how majestic it is. You can kayak up from Christchurch Harbour or walk up the footpath alongside, part of the Stour Valley Way.
