Forte Michelangelo is a fortress that protects the port of Civitavecchia, in the metropolitan city of Rome Capital. The fortress was begun in 1508 and completed in 1537 under the pontificate of Paul III, under the direction of Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the port and the promenade of Civitavecchia and there are several bars for breakfast / stop before going into the surrounding countryside to pedal.
