The mountain lake in the Dammer Mountains is a popular destination for young and old. It is easy to circle around four kilometers. There are some shelters and viewing platforms as well as rubbish bins here. There is a playground for children in the lower part of the dam. If you take your time, you can see many species of birds. In the very early hours of the morning on the back side (Bexaddetal) we have seen an eagle owl several times.

The Dammer Bergsee is a lake and a nature reserve near the town of Damme in the Lower Saxony district of Vechta. The 1.05 km² large protected area with the registration number NSG WE 222 has been a nature reserve since 1995. It is located in the Dammer Berge range and is part of the FFH area 317 "Dammer Berge". The lake itself, which is 2 km north of Damme town centre, was about 700 m wide, about 560 m long and an average depth of 3.20 m as recently as the 2000s. Even then, however, it became apparent that the lake was tending to shrink. This shrinkage was accelerated by the water shortages of 2018-2020.
