The fort of col Roncone dates back to the early twentieth century, reachable from the Panoramica road between San Daniele and Fagagna, built to defend the border between the kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian empire.

A valid alternative is to get there from the gravel path that crosses the neighboring hills ... very satisfying. The last climb is tough but it is really a short stretch.

Forte Col Roncon: The restored fortress is part of the Tagliamento defense line and was built in the early 1900s. However, it was never used and was disarmed in 1915. Today the complex is used for exhibitions and events. An ideal place to come to terms with the past.
