Place of entertainment and celebrations, the Castle was commissioned by Ottone Visconti, archbishop of Milan from 1261 to 1295. Military garrison, temporary residence of the Signoria, seat of representation, court and even prison, was equipped with an imposing wall, which still today it characterizes the fortress so clearly.
