The Stations of the Cross on the Johberg in Walhorn are an important religious and historical monument in East Belgium. It commemorates the time when Walhorn was one of the five high banks of the Duchy of Limburg from the 12th century until 1795, when the lay judges decided on life and death. Convicts were executed on the Johberg at that time. Today, there is a Stations of the Cross with 14 stations, leading through an idyllic pine forest. Not far from the 12th station, part of a pillar from the former gallows, which was used between 1626 and 1798, still stands.
