Kugelmühle belonged to the real community Gifting. Towards the end of the 18th century this was used as a cutting mill. The high court exercised the Bamberg Centamt Kronach. The caste office in Kronach held the manorial power. [3]

With the community edict, Kugelmühle was assigned to the Posseck tax district formed in 1808 and the Gifting rural community formed in 1818. On June 1, 1977, Kugelmühle was incorporated into Steinberg as part of the regional reform in Bavaria, which in turn was incorporated into Wilhelmsthal on May 1, 1978. [4] In a topographical map from 1998 the property was still recorded, [5] meanwhile it has been demolished.
