This beautiful chapel of St. Mary's is somewhat hidden in the forest. It is built in the English cottage style and one almost believes to be in England. Surrounded by old rhododendron bushes. On the side of the bell tower are some old tombs.

The chapel was built in 1900 by order of Count Bentinck, owner of, among others, the Weldam and Middachten estate. The chapel was designed by the English architect W.J. Weatherley. The chapel clearly shows the English architectural style around 1900, the so-called cottage style.

      The chapel has 140 seats.

From 1979 the chapel has been used by the Anglican municipality of the East Netherlands. The current owner Count Solms made the building available for this purpose. On December 20, 1987, the chapel was dedicated to Mary by the auxiliary bishop of Gilbraltar in Europe, to which diocese of Weldam belongs. Since then, the chapel has been called “St Mary's Chapel, Weldam”. Anglican services are held every Sunday at 10:30 am.

A beautiful church that unfolds as a present in the forest.

The chapel was built in 1900 by order of Count Bentinck, owner of the Weldam en Middachten estate, among others. The chapel was designed by the English architect W.J. weatherley. The English building style around 1900 can clearly be recognized from the chapel, so-called cottage style. (source: wikipedia.nl)
