Westerflier is a mansion or manor surrounded by a park and an estate, located southwest of Diepenheim and inhabited by noble families. One had to have a manor to be admitted to knighthood. Originally an allodium was administered from here.
The area after which the house is named is first mentioned as Westerfle in 1046. Westerflier has been inhabited for centuries by the Van Hövell family, who formed the origin of the noble family Van Hövell tot Westerflier. The current house dates from 1729 and is a simple two-storey mansion.
