The political and religious symbol of Upper Silesia towers over the fields and forests in the surrounding area at a total height of 410 m. Originally the mountain was called Chelm or St. Georgenberg. Probably since the end of the 15th century, a simple carved wooden figure of St. Anna Selbdritt honored.

Originally the Annaberg was called Chelmberg, later the name Sankt Georgenberg appeared, for example in 1657 as “Monte Georgi vulgo Chelm”. The monastery chronicle from 1665 recorded Conventus Sanctae Annae in Monte Chelm “Convent of Saint Anna on the Chelmberg”. The name Annaberg, with reference to the existing veneration of St. Anna, only appeared later.
