This place, once a disused quarry with a flat top and steep walls, was converted into a glider airfield in 1926, where future Luftwaffe pilots trained. And the presented sculpture of Icarus is intended to commemorate the death of a glider pilot who crashed on the furnace wall in 1938. After the war, Polish pilots also trained and used this airport, calling it the Mountain of Four Winds.
