Near Sandersdorf, it turns east and reaches the market town of Altmannstein via Neuenhinzenhausen and Sollern. From there, its course is guided northward by State Road 2231. It continues through Hexenagger and the village of the same name, Schambach. In Riedenburg, after 16.3 kilometers, the Schambach flows into the town pond via a rocky staircase with a waterfall over five meters high, which connects to the Altmühl River.
