Monsal Dale railway station was opened in 1866 by the Midland Railway, and closed in 1961. The original intention was a goods depot to serve the nearby Cressbrook Mill, but the station also served passengers for Cressbrook and Upperdale.

Monsal nice easy trail to walk or cycle on, I was surprised on how quiet it was when I went a very popular area for everyone
