The well-preserved solid Gothic castle stands like many castles on a rock - not high above the surrounding terrain, but in a valley, hidden in the forests of the Bohemian Paradise. Its establishment dates back to the second half of the 14th century. After the Thirty Years' War, it escaped the fate of other castles destined for liquidation, but it has been abandoned since the middle of the 18th century. After World War II, it was reconstructed and opened. The castle is one of those whose distinctive silhouette is unforgettable, mainly thanks to the typical quadrangular tower. The large Renaissance black kitchen stands out from the interiors.

Castle "Kost" with adjoining restaurant, from which you can see the castle. The gastronomy is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and has rustic charm. You sit outside, partly covered. Food includes grilled food and freshly tapped beer 🙂

The castle Kost itself can only be entered with a guide. 4 different tours are offered, one is even barrier-free. Between the castle and the two ponds is really well hidden behind the old brewery, a large "medieval" beer garden. It pays to look good: non-alcoholic beer on tap, huge delicious bohemian potato pancakes and tender meat from the grill spoil the palate.
