A popular destination in Dietesheim form the former basalt quarries, today an attractive recreational area.
After the end of the basalt mining in 1982, an impressive lake landscape of more than 61 hectares was created here, of which approximately 22.5 hectares of deep blue water surface. In addition to the largest lakes, the Vogelsberg Lake and the Oberwaldsee, the charming landscape is complemented by a series of smaller lakes. High cliffs can be admired as bizarre rock formations that are unique in the Rhine-Main region.
