It is believed to have a Visigoth origin (6th century) and that it was destroyed by the Arabs, being rebuilt in the 11th century as a hermitage dedicated to San Miguel.
The walls of the hermitage are extremely simple and austere on the outside, where inscriptions and reliefs have been found, probably from ancient Roman or Visigothic constructions.
