The Calvinist Church in Vaals was built in 1671 against the old marlstone church tower of the parish church at that time. It was founded to serve the many reformed people who were persecuted in Aachen and the surrounding area because of their religion.

The Hervormde Kerk is the oldest Protestant place of worship in Limburg. It was added to the north side of the bell tower from 1669 to 1672 on behalf of the High German Reformed community from Aachen, Burtscheid and Vaals according to plans by the Dutch architect Pieter Post was connected.
