In 1649, the Duke of Württemberg enfeoffed his diplomat Johann Conrad von Varnbüler with Hemmingen. He had made a special contribution to the Peace of Westphalia at the end of the Thirty Years' War.
In 1852, the Stuttgart architect Christian Friedrich Leins (builder of the Königsbau in Stuttgart) was commissioned to combine the medieval Old Castle and the Lower Castle in Hemmingen from 1709. Since then, Hemmingen Castle has had a neo-Gothic character. The castle park was laid out in 1854 in the style of English landscape gardens.

Hemmingen Castle consists of three parts, the Old Castle, the New Building and the New Castle, which were built between the 14th and 18th centuries and have been changed several times. Today, the main building houses the town hall of Hemmingen. There are even giant sequoias in the adjacent park. If you follow the path down, you can watch fallow deer 👀. All in all, worth seeing and recommended 👍🏼. A stop is definitely worth it 🤗
