The Goldberg is a 266.2 m above sea level. NHN[1] high mountain in Hagen. Gold and silver were mined in the Goldberg near the village of Hagen an der Volme as early as the late Middle Ages.[2]

According to the travel reports of the writers Ferdinand Freiligrath and Levin Schücking, which were published in 1842 as a book entitled Das picturesque and romantic Westphalen, the legends and historical events about the Goldberg in Hagen are told. Reports say that gold and silver were mined at the Goldberg in Hagen in the 12th century. A feudal deed between the Archbishop of Cologne Adolf von Altena and Arnold von Altena is referred to as proof of the dismantling. It also tells the tragic love story of a strange young man who wanted to marry the daughter of the local council, was accused of theft and met his end at the stake. According to legend, his mother cursed the Goldberg and then threw herself to her death.

The Goldberg Tunnel, built between 1906 and 1910, passes under the mountain. The Hagen Bismarck Tower, built in 1900/1901, is located on the mountain.
