Possibly the first man ever to cross the Northwest Passage (a sea lane between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the Arctic Ocean) via dog sled, Knud Rasmussen (1879–1933) is considered a pioneer in polar exploration and anthropology. This was his former home and it is now a museum.

Knud Rasmussen was the half-Greenlandic, half-Danish leader of the Fifth Thule Expedition. In 1921–1924, he was the first to travel by dog sled from Greenland along the northern Canadian coastline to Barrow, Alaska. He had the advantage of having grown up in Greenland, was familiar with Inuit customs, and spoke Greenlandic. Wikipedia
