allegedly for reasons of flood protection, 136 plane trees are to be felled on Neustädter Deich - between Beck's and Rotes-Kreuzkrankenhaus - although safe flood protection is also possible with preservation of the environmentally indispensable and climate-protecting trees. This is evident from the official studies of the building department and would even be 2 million euros cheaper!
The annual costs for tree maintenance are also € 18,000 lower. The felling of the trees on the St. Pauli dike had already been decided before the report. Their possible receipt was therefore no longer assessed at all.
