Bicycle and pedestrian path without car along the beach and the park with picnic tables. The grassy area, often wrongly called the Croisette or the Cap Romain by residents, is called Esplanade Nan Red because it is the name that the soldiers gave it during the D-Day landings in 1944 and which is mentioned on the maps. The soldiers were to land in front of the present Maison des Canadiens. This was the case for the A and B troops and the currents somewhat brought the C and D companies to Nan Red, on the edge of Cap Romain. The Juno sector, where the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, the 2nd Canadian Armored Brigade landed and to the west, the 8th Canadian Infantry Brigade, was divided into three zones: Love, Mike and Nan.
