After 100 years of operation, the Handorf mill was shut down in 1969. After it had initially been left to decay, it was acquired by Volker Schütz in 1983. The inner timbers were still in perfect condition. Until 1984 he carried out the necessary maintenance and renovation work on the listed, no longer operational mill and converted it into an apartment. This means that the residents of Handorf can continue to be proud of their landmark!
