The sandy beach on the Geesthacht lock island is really great with its many small bays. You wouldn't expect such a great sandy beach here. But it is not hidden and can also be clearly seen from above from the Elbe bridge. There is always a lot going on here in summer. The free sandy beach is also an Eldorado for dogs. You can also take a break here, chill out in the sun and cool off your feet. But please be very careful and do not go further into the water.

The current is really life-threatening here, also through the vortices of the barrage. You can literally see how strongly the Elbe flows here and how rapidly flotsam etc. are swept away by the current.
