Contrasts of human existence - The pillar at the crossroads stands at a fork in the road. The two inscriptions refer to the forms and contrasts of human life: pleasure-seeking and excessive living are opposed to respectability and high virtues. The column is also adorned with instructive inscriptions: To the left is written: "Examine the path that lures you to enjoyment" and to the right you will find: "Then calmly enter the path that leads you to your goal."
