Hiking

The burial ground in the Giesen forest consists of 43 burial mounds and is the burial place of a settlement from the older Bronze Age (1600-1200 BC). During this time, the deceased were buried in tree coffins under mounds and these mounds were surrounded with a stone wreath or a ditch. The cemetery suggests that there was a settlement in their immediate vicinity. The visitor can find more detailed explanations on an information board set up in the forest.
The burial ground is accessible all year round.

Hiking

View of the ancient burial mounds. A fitness trail also ran along here in the 1980s. It was very trendy back then ;) Today, almost all of the stations have fallen into disrepair. Interestingly, the sign is partially embedded in the tree.
