Torre di Dese

The so-called Dese tower is approx. 20 meters, with a square plan, provided with battlements at the top, it was probably built around the XII century; it was probably part of a system of garrisons of the lowland territories, which performed the task of observation, defense and communication at the same time.

The information table is almost illegible but reports:
"The tower was built in 891 by Doge Pietro Tribuno as a watchtower to defend the lagoon and the Republic of Venice from the raids of the barbarian invasions coming from the hinterland. The Hungarians ... Around 1000 the tower was transformed into the bell tower of ancient parish church of Dese and a small crenellated castle built inside and a structure to hold the bells of the church erected in 957.
The unsafe church was demolished in 1934 while the bells were removed in 1964
Currently close to the tower remains the former rectory in two single-storey buildings with bell-shaped roofs joined together..."

The Tower of Dese

In the southern part of the town, in via Cimitero Dese, there is a medieval tower (the so-called Dese tower): approx. 20 metres, with a square plan, equipped with battlements at the top, it was probably built around the 12th century; it was probably part of a system of garrisons in the plain territories, which simultaneously carried out the task of observation, defense and communication[3].
