The Stauf ruins stand on a narrow ridge between Aschachtal and Zeilerbachgraben. The first buildings were erected in the middle of the 12th century. When the owners, the von Liechtenstein family, moved to their new castle in Aschach an der Donau, Stauf Castle fell into disrepair and was no longer rebuilt.

Short hike, about 40 minutes, goes over forest roads with a beautiful view, stairs in the tower are a bit steep and the trap door at the top of the tower is also a bit tricky and you should close it again when leaving, you also have different options of paths to choose from, directly from St.Agatha from the intersection (organic waste storage) or a little further down, there you go to the right, there is only a small, wild parking bay (about 4-5 cars)
