The church of Santa Maria in Bressanoro is less famous and less known than the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine della Misericordia (also because it is located along the road to Cremona), but it represents an important page from a historical point of view as it was wanted by Bianca Maria Visconti in the 15th century. Bianca Maria Visconti was the last of the Visconti dynasty, from Milan and with her the Sforza dynasty began, as she was the wife of Francesco Sforza. The church was commissioned by the Duchess to thank her for a "miraculous" recovery of her daughter. Surely the most innovative aspect for the time and compared to other religious monuments of the time is the free or everted Greek cross plan. Inside, today it was strangely open and there was no one, there are frescoes from the late fifteenth century that illustrate the life of Jesus and his crucifixion.
