With its many lakes in a wide high valley and beautiful mountain surroundings, Val Piora is considered one of the most beautiful mountain regions in Ticino and is a popular excursion destination in midsummer. The Lago Ritóm reservoir can be easily reached by cable car and is a walking area. Further back in the valley it becomes quieter - but not really, because hundreds of cattle populate the wide alpine pastures.
