Thankfully a long and steady decent into Stroud gives your legs a breather! If you're heading the other way, take it easy on the long climb up from Stroud. It's not difficult, but the hill into Painswick town is likely gonna take everything you've got left and possibly more!

Have done it both ways... the Painswick end is nasty in either direction. Great decent into Stroud or a nice steady climb out of it.
