Heinrich Löns was already enthusiastic about its charming location and described it in 1897 in his memoirs "Ein Heidedorf" (A Heath Village) as the most beautiful spot in the entire village.
The mill was first mentioned in 1592, but it is probably much older.
In 1830, the mill became part of the Thiede family, and today Heinrich Thiede continues to maintain this historic monument.
