It stands at the point where the district forester Hans Balthasar Harras is said to have hunted down the last bear of the Thuringian Forest on August 14, 1671.
The memorial stone is located near the Waldsberg head at an altitude of 700 m.
There is a memorial plaque at a refuge, the so-called Bärenstein hut.
