"Traveling makes you humble. You realize what a small place you occupy in the world." Gustave FlaubertAs Rammstein put it so aptly: "Travel, travel ... everyone does it in their own way." At some point you have to leave the familiar realm and explore another area. And so on Tuesday we went to Oberwiesenthal to explore the area for a few days. On the way there, the weather was getting cloudy. Leaving the sunshine at home, it went straight into the rain. In Oberwiesenthal, the Nebel had made itself available as a reception committee. But that shouldn't be a deterrent to throwing yourself straight from the car into a first hike. The hike went through wet forests and over foggy fields to the Kreuzbrückfelsen. Partly it went along, on the paths of the Stoneman-Miriquidi route. In the forests, the mushrooms are currently shooting up highly motivated and in the mood for autumn. The fog underlined the autumn mood. Spider webs decorated with water droplets hung in the meadows and the cows delighted in the lush grass. On the way back, luck would have it that the Fichtelbergbahn was just pulling into the station. The steam locomotive immediately transported you to another time and the smell of steam brought back memories of childhood. After the hike, we went straight to the evening buffet. There is no better way to round off a hike and the first day of your vacation.
