Nice decoration in the church. A very magnificent church with a long tradition.

In 1646, the Jesuits moved to the town, to the house that Zsófia Boldog Bosnyák left to them in her will in 1632. In the evangelical city, the Jesuits, who started peaceful proselytizing activities, were not welcomed. In 1649, a gymnasium was opened. Count György Illésházy supported their activities. The Jesuit novitiate began its operation in 1655, the building was built between 1656 and 1661. The church was built between 1653 and 1657 with the financial support of Archbishop György Lippay of Esztergom. It was designed by Pietro Spazzo and was built for the Jesuits. It was significantly damaged in the fire of 1708, and gained its current Baroque character during the renovation from 1709 to 1713. The high altar was built in 1767.

In 1773, the Pope dissolved the Jesuit order. In 1776, it was given to the Piarists, who had already been invited by the townspeople to replace the Jesuits.

The Church of St. Francis Xavier in Trenčín, also known as the Piarist Church, is one of the most important baroque buildings in the city. It was built in the 17th century by the Piarists, a Catholic order dedicated to education.
The church impresses with its magnificent façade and the striking twin towers that dominate the cityscape. Inside, visitors can expect rich baroque furnishings with artistically designed altars, frescoes and statues. The main altarpiece, which depicts St. Francis Xavier, one of the patron saints of the missions and namesake of the church, is particularly worth seeing.
