From the summit of Mount Zugna, the view is breathtaking and expansive, as it rises sharply between two valleys: on one side, the narrow and rugged Vallarsa, and on the other, the more open Vallagarina (a continuation of the Adige Valley). Advancing onto the front promontory along a narrow but safe path, by turning your gaze to the right or left, you can see both valleys, a full 360°!

Precisely because of its unique position, controlling two access routes between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy, it was bitterly contested between the two armies during the First World War: control of the Vallarsa in particular was essential for the Imperials to advance with the Strafexpedition in the spring of 1916. The Italians, however, managed to defend it, building an observation post to direct artillery fire and two gun emplacements, effectively halting the Austro-Hungarian invasion.
