The Thomaswiese is particularly important because of the large-scale formation of the globeflower-snake knotweed-wet meadow and nipple-cabbage thistle-wet meadow communities, which are highly endangered in Thuringia.
The orchid broad-leaved orchid, the globe flower and the heady devil's claw occur as endangered plant species.
