After intensive preparations on the part of the Hohenheid citizens, the foundation stone of the church was laid on September 20, 1925. In 1935 the church was painted. Thirty years later it received its own bells and a church clock, which had to be replaced in 2000. In 1973, according to the requirements of the liturgical reform, the interior was redesigned. The Herz-Jesu-Kirche was completely renewed inside and out in 1986/87. The church tower was refurbished and renovated in 1999.
