    Trieste - Bottazzo / Botač - Draga - Kozina (12 km)

(About 6/7 hours on foot, path suitable for everyone, you can start the path in various sections of the path)

Unique of its kind, as it allows you to reach Val Rosandra - Dolina Glinščice and unspoiled nature starting directly from the center of Trieste. On foot or by bike it is an easy route, suitable for everyone, which allows you to get to Kozina or to stop in Bottazzo-Botač.

The route follows the route of the former Trieste-Hrpelje railway (Erpelle) active between 1887 and 1959 and dismantled in 1966. The railway was built in just 20 months, employing 2,600 workers from 1885 to 1886 at the expense of the Austro-Hungarian government and it connected Trieste with the Transalpine railway line that connected Istria with Gorizia, and then ascended towards the heart of the then Austro-Hungarian Empire. Currently, many of the original stations and railway structures such as the tunnels dug into the rock have been preserved, although often used for other purposes, making the route an interesting route also from the point of view of industrial archeology.

In the period from November to March of each year, up to 8 wagons of wine were loaded each day at the S.Antonio in Bosco-Boršt station. After the First World War the wine trade ceased, but traffic with Istria intensified, to definitively lose all economic interest after the Second World War and the new state border.
