The Fehmarnbelt Bridge has been in planning for 20 years and has been highly controversial ever since.
At first the bridge between the Danish Rødby and the German Puttgarden to Fehmarn seemed to be the favorite. Now the Danes have decided to build a tunnel after all. The final approval will not be given until 2013, after the environmental impact assessment has been completed.
