At first the bridge between the Danish Rødby and the German Puttgarden to Fehmarn seemed to be the favorite. Now the Danes have decided to build a tunnel after all. The final approval will not be given until 2013, after the environmental impact assessment has been completed.
Construction of the tunnel is scheduled to begin in 2014 and the opening is planned for 2020. (Source: fehmarn-meine-sonneninsel.de/html/fehmarnbeltbrucke.html)
