  • Brede Zeyp is a remnant of the historic Waverwoud. This 300-hectare forest belonged to the Van Wezemael family until 1470 and went to the state. Ferraris described the forest as Bois Den Sype on his map.The stream De Brede Zeyp gave its name to the forest. Whereby the meaning of Zeyp would be moat that gives water. The forest was a production forest and is owned by the OCMW of Mechelen and was given on a long lease to Natuurpunt in 2012.
