The railway viaduct, made up of metal decks on reinforced concrete piles, was built in 1915-1916 and renovated in 2002-2005. With a total length of 1,107 meters, it culminates nearly sixty meters above the valley of the Gueule. The viaduct is one of the structures of the railway line linking the city of Aachen to the port of Antwerp.

We walked through Moresnet which is a village where the three borders of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany meet. We parked near the Saint-Remy church, built in 1645 and enlarged in 1864. It houses beautiful furniture, listed organs and a bell dating from 1272
Beside, a path led us to the Moresnet viaduct, it is one of the longest viaducts of the Belgian railway (Tongres-Visé-Aix-la-Chapelle), it connects the port of Antwerp to the industrial basin of the Ruhr (Germany). Its construction was ordered by the German occupier during the First World War.
It is 1107 meters long and varying in height from 23 to 58 meters, it overlooks the valley of the Gueule.
On the way, we discovered Uilenberg Castle, dating from the 19th century
Then on ravel 39, and finally along the Gueule, we came back to our starting point.

In any case an impressive construction that completely determines the village image. Whether this was the best solution for Moresnet is still the question and beautiful ???
