    Location and history: The Esslinger Tor is located in the western Schurwald between the Kappelberg and the Kernenturm.
    Today the name denotes a major crossroads.
    It is uncertain whether there was really some kind of gate. But as a so-called gateway over the Schurwald to Esslingen it was definitely in the times of the imperial city of Esslingen. At that time, almost all of today's Schurwald, at least the western part, was owned by the imperial city of Esslingen.
    There has also been a mushroom tree there for several years. Here a kind of mesh was attached above the ground around a tree.

    A hike here is reassuring, as there aren't as many people here as there are around the burial chapel. The trees are very old and the paths in the forest are very branched.
