Saint Benigno was a hermit and lived there with San Caro between the VIII and the IX. Century. Carlo Magno and the son often visited Benigno and Caro.

The path that leads to the Hermitage is a bit challenging, with very steep sections, feasible on foot or with E-mtb. The hermitage has lost much of its beauty with the restoration a few decades ago, but the ring is beautiful.

Hiking
The approach from Malcesine is recommended; it's quite steep and challenging in places. The descent towards Cassone is only partially rideable, but it's still a recommended loop. In July, there wasn't a soul to be found here.
