The former Benedictine monastery in Wöltingerode was founded in 1174 and is very impressive and well preserved to this day. In addition to a hotel, the monastery also has a well-known monastery distillery, as well as its own bakery and fish smokehouse. The gardens are also particularly worth seeing.
In the farm shop you can buy all kinds of regional delicacies and of course there are guided tours through the premises.

There are two stamp boxes directly opposite the monastery hotel. The red one is a special stamp on the Harzer Klosterwanderweg (approx. 95 km long) between the two World Heritage sites of Goslar and Quedlinburg.
The second stamp is the 29th stamp station of the leisure stamp pass Northern Harz Foreland "Klostergut Wöltingerode", known and preferred as a destination and as a conference venue. The monastery wall, which is almost one kilometer long, old trees, the lovingly tended green areas and flower beds as well as the well-preserved buildings convey the feeling of what monastery life must have been like in the past centuries. In the herb garden you can get an idea of the shape of a monastery garden and go on the search for traces. Which plants can be recognized by their scent? What was this herb good for again? Which flower can do more than just look beautiful? The corresponding explanations can be found on the information boards.
