      Gilmans Point at an altitude of 5,756 meters (18,885 feet) is one of three official summit points on Mount Kilimanjaro. If you are coming from Gilman’s Point you pass Stella Point on your way to the actual summit of Kilimanjaro/Uhuru Peak. Gilmans Point is Situated at the edge of the crater rim.
      Only climbers on the Marangu, Rongai and northern circuit routes pass through Gilmans point on summit night — usually the second or third last day of the climb. The climb to Gilman’s point starts from Kibo huts campsite ( 4700 meters ) at midnight and is usually the toughest part of the route. It takes roughly 6hrs to 8 hrs to the Summit.
      Some Climbers choose to end their climb here due to fatigue or altitude sickness or both, though the climb to the summit from here is fairly easy, compared to that from the base camp Barafu hut. All climbers who reach this point will receive the official Kilimanjaro climbing certificate and can proudly claim that they have reached one of the 3 summit of Kilimanjaro the tallest mountain in Africa.
