Short description The Züscher Hammer, the largest ironworks in the Hunsrück in the 17th century, and the Celtic ring wall in Otzenhausen on the Dollberg, one of the most impressive Celtic fortifications in Europe, convey the history of the iron industry and that of the Celts. On the way you pass the Primstal Dam, the largest drinking water reservoir in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. Highlights of the Dollberg loop include the Züscher Hammer, a reconstructed hammer mill that is powered by water power and was already documented in 1627, the Nonnweiler Dam and the Archaeology and Keiten Park. The Celtic village of Otzenhausen at the foot of the ring wall is fenced in by a defensive wooden palisade and provides insights into the life of the Celts. A sea of rocks and boulders leads to the mighty ring wall, the creation of which is dated to the 5th/4th century BC.
