Just two years after the founding of the Rolduc (Klosterrath) monastery, a water mill was built in 1106 to supply the monastery. In 1358 it is mentioned that the estates of the brothers Gerlach von Montjardin and Winricus von Müdersdorf were shared. Gerlach received goods, interest and lease at Haanrade and the Baalsbrugger mill (Hanssen 1912, p. 243).

Road cycling

The mill ditch of the Baalsbrugger mill in Kerkrade was created when the Baalsbrugger mill was rebuilt in 1673. The water to the mill wheel, which no longer exists today, was fed back into the worm via the further course of the trench. The mill itself used to belong to the Rolduc Abbey (Kerkrade / NL).
